Choose one of eight different classes and build a deck to slay monsters in this coffee-break roguelike game. Review: Monster Slayers Nintendo Switch eShop. While deck-building games haven't generally grabbed.
Submitted on 5/18/2018 Review title of HahnIsLegendGreat game. Not so great PC port. The gameplay loop is amazing and addicting, but this is basically a port of the PC version that isn't a great fit for the console in its current state. The menus are slow and clunky to navigate. It could really use some button shortcuts, especially in the inventory menu where equipping items is needlessly time consuming.
Not a bad game, it just needs a few quality of life adjustments to make it a better experience on the Xbox. Submitted on 6/28/2018 Review title of Zoot MarloweUpdated ReviewI want to love this game but about half way through any quest the game crashes and kicks me back to my home screen.
That said the game is extremely fun. The gameplay loop is exciting and addicting. The classes are fun and the decks are varied with a lot of stuff to unlock. My only other complaint is I can't figure out how to change companions names even though it says I can.
If they fix the game crashes I will up my rating to at least 4 stars. Once fixed it will easily be worth the price of admission. Edit- It has been a long time since the game has crashed and wiped my save data. So I am now giving this the 4 star rating it deserves and I encourage anyone reading this to check it out. Submitted on 5/19/2018 Review title of DarkOutlaw TBAddictive rougelike rpgThis would be a perfect turn based rougelike rpg exxperience but sadly as of launch there seems to be a major crashing issue.gameplay wise this game has depth despite its pixel art look.it can be played as smart and tactical as a highest tier rpg or simple enough where you dont have to feel intimidated.in short a great game for novice and experts of rpgs.not many games in general balance both. Like i stated before as of now the only cripple is a game crashing bug that can happen at literally any moment.but in all fairness this is launch day review and this issue most likely can be patched.if i had to make a suggestion i would like to see prestiege classes added maybe like a merchant king or necromancer lord.hopefully this is agame that will be supported i would love for more dungeons and even more rpg depth be put in this game at least with end game.
Submitted on 5/18/2018 Review title of Rod38Great rpgFirst off this game is great, fun and addictive. When your hero dies in battle it unlocks a large amount of upgrades for you to choose from for the next playthrough. The card strategy part is fun to play and different characters each have their own starting deck that can be upgraded and new cards found an be upgraded also.I would have given this 5 stars but it has glitched and dumped me back to the home screen twice now.Needs an update to fix. But my character is still saved. Hopefully they fix it. Because this game rocks. Submitted on Review title of PRIMAL G0DUPDATED: FIXED-GREAT GAME!
Needs to be fixedUPDATE: Just picked this up again and no sign of any glitch. Runs flawlessly and has definitely become one of my alltime favorite games for Xbox. The glitch that boots you out randomly throughout this game is rage inducing to say the least. This needs to be fixed right away, and it is THAT bad.If not for this issue that beta testing should have caught long ago, this is on my short list of most fun, addicting games Ive ever bought on Xbox. But it's very unfortunately badly broken.
And you will lose hours of progress many times over before you end up writing the next angry review following this.Fix this asap or pull it until you do. Submitted on 8/11/2019 Review title of PlayingOnHardFun distractionVery addictive and fun for a few days. It saves after each dungeon so you can play here and there if you have 30 minutes. The final boss is a bit random though and can really shut you down even after you steam-rolled the current dungeon.
Luckily you can unlock retries. The rogue-lite features let you carry over equipment and unlock some class bonuses. You learn which companions, enemies, and dungeons to pick/avoid based on your build. The other strategy is in deck building and equipment synergy. There's 14+ classes with 8 at the start. Ultimately unsatisfying at the end though.
